Scott Morton has joined Bermuda’s backroom staff as an assistant coach and will be in the dugout for their Concacaf Nations League qualifier against El Salvador.

Morton has enjoyed plenty of success since taking charge of Premier Division side PHC Zebras in 2016, winning the FA Cup in his first season before leading them to the league title, the Dudley Eve Trophy and the Friendship Trophy last term.

The Zebras are top of the league after winning six and drawing one of their seven matches this season.

Morton has previously worked as a National Academy coach and led the Bermuda Hogges in United Soccer League’s Premier Development League in the summer of 2010.

Lightbourne said he was delighted to have Morton on board in time for Bermuda’s match against El Salvador at the National Stadium on Friday.

“Scott will strengthen us in a couple of departments,” Lightbourne said. “He had his first session with us yesterday [Sunday]. With Scott, Ray Jones and Maurice Lowe [the Bermuda Football Association technical development director], it makes it all the better for us.

“Scott comes with a great reputation. He’s done a fantastic job at PHC and his experience will help us as we look to build.”
