Woman fined and banned from roads
A 36-year-old woman who admitted driving while almost twice the legal alcohol limit was fined and banned from the roads at Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Julia Pearman, of Sandys, pleaded guilty to providing a breath specimen over the legal limit for alcohol.
Pearman was pulled over on Harbour Road on Saturday night after her car crossed the centre line and indicated a left turn before the car turned right. The court was told Pearman also almost struck a wall.
She told police when stopped: “I have had a few.”
A breath test showed 156 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Pearman told the court that she was “extremely sorry”.
She added: “It was a terrible mistake.”
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Pearman $1,200 for the offence and disqualified her from driving for 18 months.
